Insurance

Good Therapy San Diego does not accept insurance and does not bill insurance providers directly. They can provide receipts for you to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. This is only for PPO plans with out-of-network benefits.

PPO plans usually reimburse between 40 and 80 percent after your deductible. Before making an appointment, please check your mental health out-of-network benefits to find out whether you will be reimbursed, how much, and how to submit the receipts.

Questions to Ask Your PPO Plan

Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask:

  • Does my plan cover services to out-of-network mental health providers?
  • What deductible must I meet before out-of-network coverage starts?
  • How much will my plan reimburse after my deductible is met?
  • How many sessions does my plan cover in a year, and how many do I have left?
  • How do I submit the receipt (superbill) for reimbursement?

Payment and Cancellations

Payment is due at the time of your session. If you provide a credit card, your session is billed automatically the day after. Cash, checks and all major credit cards are accepted (Visa, AmEx, Discover, Mastercard) as well as HSA/FSA cards. Checks are made out to Good Therapy San Diego.

Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are subject to a cancellation charge.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers must give patients who do not have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of expected charges for non-emergency services, including psychotherapy. You can ask for one before you schedule. If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Save a copy or picture of your estimate.
