This May Sound Familiar

You do not need every one of these to benefit from therapy. One is enough.

  • Fear that builds quickly and feels difficult to understand
  • Worrying about having another episode in public
  • Changing plans because you are afraid of how you might feel

How Emma works

What therapy looks like here

Understanding Your Experience

Emma listens to what happens before, during, and after moments of panic. Together you can explore the stress, thoughts, and circumstances around them without assuming every person has the same experience.

Skills for Intense Moments

DBT skills can provide a framework for noticing emotions and responding to distress. Emma explores which skills fit your needs and practices them with you at a manageable pace.

Making Room for Your Life

Sessions can include the ways fear has affected work, relationships, or daily routines. Your goals guide the conversation, rather than pressure to feel ready for everything immediately.

New or unexplained physical symptoms deserve medical attention. Therapy does not replace medical evaluation. You can ask the intake team about support for panic before deciding to book.

Panic can affect where you feel comfortable going and add to everyday worry. Related pages explore Agoraphobia, Anxiety & Depression, and Stress Management.

Questions about Panic

What happens in a session about panic?
Emma asks what panic feels like for you, what tends to happen before and after an episode, and what you have already tried. Sessions can then look at the physical sensations, the fear of the next episode, and the plans you have started making around it. DBT skills are introduced when they are useful to you, not as a fixed course.
Do I have to describe my panic in detail to begin?
No. You can start with what is happening in your life now and what you would like to change. If a physical symptom is new or unexplained, a medical check is a sensible first step, and therapy can work alongside that rather than replacing it.
Can I attend from elsewhere in North County San Diego?
Emma sees clients in Encinitas from throughout North County San Diego, including Carlsbad, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Olivenhain, and Rancho Santa Fe. Online sessions are available across California.
How do I ask about appointments or fees?
Call (619) 330-9500 or email intake@goodtherapysandiego.com. You can also use the contact form or read about sessions and fees. Please do not include private health details in an initial website inquiry.
