This May Sound Familiar

You do not need every one of these to benefit from therapy. One is enough.

  • Feeling caught between patience and exhaustion
  • Disagreeing with a partner about parenting
  • Wanting to respond differently from the way you were raised

How Emma works

What therapy looks like here

Understanding Your Family

Emma asks about the people, routines, and pressures in your family. Sessions recognize that parenting happens within real constraints, not an ideal set of circumstances.

Communication and Emotions

DBT skills can support discussion of strong emotions and needs. Couples work may draw on Gottman-informed tools to explore conversations between parenting partners.

Space for Different Perspectives

Family work can include how each person experiences conflict or change. Emma collaborates with you on goals and discusses which session format may fit your family.

You do not need to be a perfect parent to ask for support. Contact the intake team to discuss individual, couples, or family sessions.

Parenting concerns can intersect with attention needs, partnership, and separation. Related pages include ADHD (Children and Families), Relationships, and Divorce.

Questions about Parenting

Do both parents have to attend?
No. One parent can come alone, and family or couples sessions are a separate choice. Emma can discuss which format fits your family at intake.
Can you help when my partner and I parent differently?
Yes. Sessions can look at the disagreement underneath the day-to-day arguments and at how you both want to respond to your children. Gottman-informed tools may be used for conversations between parenting partners.
Can I attend from elsewhere in North County San Diego?
Emma sees clients in Encinitas from throughout North County San Diego, including Carlsbad, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Olivenhain, and Rancho Santa Fe. Online sessions are available across California.
How do I ask about appointments or fees?
