Most couples do not arrive with a hundred problems. They arrive with one argument they have had a hundred times. Emma Bourroux, AMFT is certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1) and works with couples and families in Encinitas and across North County San Diego who want to stop rehearsing the same fight and start feeling like partners again.

How Emma works
Research-based skills for softening how a hard conversation starts, taking a break before flooding takes over, and repairing after a rupture. Sessions also pay attention to the friendship and fondness that make repair possible.
Sessions look for the cycle you are both stuck in rather than deciding who is at fault. When the pattern becomes visible, it stops feeling personal and starts feeling changeable.
Some relationship work happens alone: boundaries, dating after a hard breakup, or untangling what your family taught you about love. Emma also meets with families working through conflict and change together.
Both partners attend together, and early on Emma may also meet with each of you individually. You do not have to be on the brink to come in.
Relationship concerns may include changes in family life. Related support includes Divorce, Parenting, and Anger and Forgiveness.

This information describes Emma’s services. It is general education only, not a diagnosis or a substitute for therapy. Emma is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist practicing under clinical supervision.
